The Osprey Kode 30 has been built with back-country skiing in mind. The 30 litre hits a sweet spot for size as its large enough for day long adventures and small enough (courtesy of the neat compression straps) to be used for resort or slack-country (just outside the resort) skiing or riding.

Designing a small pack that can comfortably carry relatively heavy ski's or a board is tricky. The pack needs to stable and secure so you don't have movement or wobble with every step. Osprey have achieved this through their excellent harness and hipbelt design. The pack feels firm and stable while offering a couple of carry options, either a diagonal carry left or right, as well as an A-frame carry if you're not in treed terrain with low branches.

Of course Osprey have provided super neat access for all your backcountry essentials like shovel, probe etc. but they have also accomodated helmet carrying without it flapping around the back of your pack. Very cool indeed!

We absolutely love this pack for long day trips BC. Pack the thermos and sanga's and skin out to earn your turns!
